Frequently asked questions

Everything you want to know about coaching, the process and the practical side.

General questions about coaching

Being coaching (zijnscoaching) is a form of deep self-inquiry where Western psychology, Eastern wisdom and systemic work come together. It is not about solving symptoms, but about exploring who you truly are — beyond learned patterns and beliefs. So that you can live and work from your own strength again.
Therapy often focuses on processing psychological complaints and the past. Coaching — and essence coaching in particular — focuses on awareness, personal growth and discovering who you truly are. Being coaching is complementary and not a replacement for psychological or medical treatment.
Being coaching relates to life coaching, but goes deeper than just setting goals or taking practical steps. It focuses on awareness, identity and meaning — not only on what you want to achieve, but on who you are and how you want to live from that place.
Being coaching combines dialogue, body awareness and systemic work. We don't just look at behaviour or goals, but at deeper patterns, beliefs and identity. It is less solution-oriented and more focused on essential change.
Personal development often focuses on skills, goals and growth. Being coaching goes a layer deeper: it explores who you are beyond roles, expectations and achievements. From there, development emerges that is authentic and lasting.

Who is coaching for and when?

For anyone who feels stuck, is at a crossroads or wants to live and work more from their true self. Think of people who are heading towards a burnout, going through a major life change, or simply feel that there is "more".
Many people seek coaching when they feel stuck, doubt their work or life, keep falling into the same patterns or notice they are just pushing through rather than making conscious choices. You don't need a crisis to start — the feeling that things could be different is already enough.
Yes. Many people start coaching because of questions like: Am I still doing the right work? Why does my job cost so much energy? or What truly suits me? Being coaching helps you clarify what is authentically yours and what is learned or adapted behaviour.
Yes, essence coaching can be very valuable for (impending) burnout or chronic stress. We explore not only the symptoms, but also the underlying patterns and beliefs that cause you to cross your boundaries. For serious complaints, coaching can run alongside medical treatment.
Rather than just working on more self-confidence, we explore where insecurity comes from. Through insight into underlying beliefs, more calm, stability and confidence often naturally arise.
Absolutely. Coaching is not only for when you feel stuck. It can be especially valuable when you sense that more potential, depth or direction is possible — personally and professionally.

Practical questions about sessions and programs

A session lasts 1.5 to 2 hours and takes place in a calm, safe setting — in person, online or a combination. We start from whatever is alive in you at that moment. Through dialogue, bodily awareness and focused questions we explore together what presents itself.
A coaching session lasts 1.5 to 2 hours. This is deliberately longer than the usual 45 to 60 minutes with many psychologists or therapists. The extra time ensures that we don't just talk, but can also slow down and go deeper.
That depends on your question and the chosen program. The shortest program spans approximately 6 to 8 weeks, the most extensive program can last up to 8 months. In the introduction call we discuss what suits your situation.
That varies per person and per question. Some people find a short program of a few sessions sufficient. Others choose a longer process. Book a phone introduction to explore together what suits you best. There is no obligation.
Yes, all sessions can take place in person, online or in a combination. Online coaching is just as effective and offers extra flexibility.
Yes, the programs are designed to fit alongside a job. Sessions are scheduled in consultation with sufficient space in between.
Right away. I deliberately always keep room for new coachees, because I know how nice it is to be able to start quickly once you've made the decision. Book an introduction call to get in touch quickly.

Results and confidentiality

Commonly mentioned results are: more calm and clarity, better knowing what you want, less going along with automatic patterns, and more self-confidence in choices — both privately and at work.
Some insights emerge as early as the first session. At the same time, lasting change is a process. Many clients notice more calm and clarity within a few weeks.
Yes. Everything we discuss remains strictly confidential. In corporate programs, only what you explicitly want to be shared will be shared.
That's no problem. Many people feel that something is off without knowing exactly what. In the introduction call we explore together what is going on.
Emotions are welcome, but nothing is required. Whatever presents itself is allowed to be there, at your own pace. The setting is safe and without judgement.
The best way is to experience it. Book a free 30-minute introduction call to explore whether there is a connection.

Costs and reimbursement

There are three programs: Helder Zicht (3 sessions), Wezenlijk Verschil (6 sessions) and Op Maat (8-10 sessions). After a program you can return for a single follow-up session. Corporate rates are exclusive of 21% VAT. View the different packages here.
Being coaching is generally not covered by basic health insurance. Some supplementary insurance plans offer reimbursement. Employers can often cover coaching through training budgets or sustainable employability programs.
Yes, many employers cover coaching through the training budget or as part of reintegration. Discuss the options with your employer or HR department.
